Last week, Family Service Agency along with partnering agencies served 400 families in a large mask and resource distribution at Alvin School. A winding line of families wrapped around the far corner of the street as the Alvin School Principal, Tiffany Hamilton, and FSA Family Advocate Margot Olivarria-Lauterio met with each family individually to deliver necessary items.
Families were able to choose from long racks of clothing from the mobile clothing trailer brought by the Children’s Resource Network of the Central Coast. The clothing closet was stocked with new or like new clothing, and full of sizes for kids of all ages. Families were given more than just clothing new backpacks, pouches full of school supplies, a box of N95 masks, and a non-contact thermal thermometer. Volunteers passed out supplies to families as they waited eagerly in line.
Family Service Agency/Santa Maria Valley Youth and Family Center is honored to work with the Santa Maria Bonita School District, the Agriculture Commission and the Children’s Resource Network of the Central Coast in meeting the needs of our Alvin Elementary School students and families.
Through key partnerships in Northern and Southern Santa Barbara County, FSA has participated in giving back to the community with distributions, assistance, and resources for many years. Throughout the last few years, FSA has served as an integral resource to the community, offering masks, Covid-19 testing and at-home tests, and many other services that have helped families adapt in uncertain times. Currently, FSA has locations across Santa Barbara County, and Family Support Service, mental health counseling, and other services to Guadalupe, Santa Maria, Lompoc, Santa Barbara, and Carpinteria.
