On Tuesday April 5th, the Public Health Department of Santa Barbara County named FSA a Public Health Champion in the counties first ever “Public Health Week”. Four other organizations and individuals were named Champions and Heroes of Public Health during the Board of Supervisors meeting including CAUSE, Carpinteria Children’s Project, Ben Romo, and Lawanda Lyons-Pruitt.

“FSA, under the leadership of Lisa Brabo and Steve DeLira, were very willing and competent partners for our busy isolation and quarantine efforts” Dr. Do-Reynoso, Director of the Public Health Department, stated at Tuesday’s meeting. “FSA provided needed services for our farmworkers and food service workers during the pandemic. The team at FSA is dedicated and professional, and they are so caring. We were very impressed with them and enjoyed working with them on this very important program.”

With COVID-19 issues shifting towards a more promising future, we are able to look back on the work of FSA staff in the past two years and know that we made a significant difference for underserved community members impacted by this pandemic. Our hardworking team spent countless hours ensuring that people could access vital resources.

Thank you to the Public Health Department, our fellow Public Health Champions and Heroes of 2022, and the entire FSA team. We look forward to another year of serving our Santa Barbara County community.
